Starting over

“It’s never too late to start over!”
― Lynne Gentry

Starting over can be a challenge, especially when it comes to our bodies.  We first go through this mental process of beating ourselves up for allowing it to get this far and also grunt at the process that is ahead.  So we do nothing because we are now stuck in the past and in the future.  But how do we become present?

  1. Forgive yourself – begin by looking in the mirror and say: “I am sorry, that I have neglected you.  Please forgive me, I love you, thank you.
  2. Move your body – you could begin with simple stretches.  Then find something you enjoy (dance, running, walking, swimming, etc.) and do it to the best of your ability.  Don’t time yourself, just do as much as you can.  After you finish, tell yourself: great job!
  3. Add healthy options – I don’t believe in removing things right away unless you have a serious health issue. Start by adding one thing at a time to your daily regimen.  What things are you not getting enough of on a daily basis? I realized the other day that  I don’t drink enough water.  If you want to try something different, check out some of my recipes as a starting.

Changes take time.  Don’t rush yourself into it and don’t beat yourself up if you have not seen any results.  Your body will eventually respond.  Just keep at it – one step at a time.
